Student Migration to Australia

The rules for overseas students qualifying for permanent residence in Australia under the skilled migration program are very complex. This page provides a simple summary. Many students who graduate from Australian Universities can apply for Australian permanent residence.
A special plan is made for each individual.

Once you graduate, you could be eligible to apply.

You can apply in Australia and receive a working visa while you wait for your permanent visa.

To qualify you must:

1. Pass the points test for Skilled Migration
2. Complete a course that gives you a:
   • 60 point Skilled Occupation OR
   • 50 point Skilled Occupation and have an Australian Sponsor OR
   • 40 point Skilled Occupation and have an Australian Sponsor who lives in a Designated Area (outside major towns)
3. You need to apply as soon as possible after you finish your course (contact us immediately after you finish your final exams, and before you graduate)
