At a recent stakeholder meeting on high level policy and procedural issues, the Department of Home Affairs made a surprising admission to representatives of the Migration Institute of Australia about the subclass 408 ‘Covid’ visa.

“The Government is actively considering phasing this visa out”

No details about how this may happen, and no firm date has been provided for when this “phasing out” process may start.
